Culpeper County

Culpeper County, home to almost 54,000 residents, was established in 1749 and is made up of 383 square miles. It is bordered by both the Rappahannock and Rapidan Rivers. Culpeper sits in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and Old Rag Mountain, along with Skyline Drive are easily accessible. In 1775, each district in Culpeper was tasked with forming a battalion of men that could march at a minute’s notice, aptly named as the Culpeper Minute Men. These men participated in the first Revolutionary battle on Virginia soil, the Battle of Great Bridge. Downtown Culpeper is a quaint walking area filled with shops and restaurants helmed by award winning chefs. The county is also home to Commonwealth Park, host to many world class equestrian events.
